controversial and banned books to read ❌📖
i’ve been looking a lot into banned and challenged books and what that exactly means. when a book is banned, that means that it has been removed from a collection (something like a library or state) due to a challenge to its content, morals, or themes.
have any of you read any of these? what did you think?

Banned books have always stirred discussions regarding freedom of expression and censorship. Many classic and contemporary titles, like 'The Catcher in the Rye' by J.D. Salinger and '1984' by George Orwell, have faced bans due to their themes—often addressing complex societal issues such as racism, sexual content, and political dissent. For instance, 'The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn' by Mark Twain has been scrutinized for its portrayal of race, while 'The Great Gatsby' by F. Scott Fitzgerald has been challenged for its depiction of morality and the American Dream. These narratives not only entertain but also provoke thought about historical and modern societal values. Reading banned books can sometimes provide perspective on why they were deemed problematic. Moreover, engaging with book clubs or forums, such as #lemon8bookclub, can enrich discussions around these essential works. This community discussion can help shed light on the reasons behind the challenges faced by these texts and promote a more comprehensive understanding of literature's role in reflecting and shaping culture. Don't miss the chance to dive into these thought-provoking reads!
