my favorite classic books 📚

i’ve been really into classics lately and i’m trying to collect all of them for my physical library! these are some of my favorites :)))

🔔 the bell jar by sylvia plath: watch esther greenwood descend into madness and lose touch with her reality. this is a very personal novel for the author, as she too dealt with issues that esther does as well.

👁️‍🗨️ 1984 by george orwell: explore a new world where independent thought isn’t something that anyone can comprehend. there isn’t a single inch of your life where big brother isn’t watching.

🏛️ the secret history by donna tartt: a self-proclaimed outcast joins a tight group of college students studying greek and eventually sees just how dark and deep into the classics they really are.

🪰 lord of the flies by william golding: a young group of schoolboys find themselves completely alone on a remote island. they eventually fit into societal roles and see just how much freedom can cost.

... Read moreBuilding a robust collection of classic literature not only enhances your personal library but also broadens your literary horizons. Classics like 'The Bell Jar' delve deep into psychological struggles and societal expectations, making it essential for understanding mental health and feminism in writing. George Orwell’s '1984' serves as a crucial commentary on totalitarianism and personal freedom, still relevant in today’s political landscape. 'The Secret History' by Donna Tartt introduces readers to dark academia, blending suspense with philosophical musings, inviting reflection on morality and the consequences of elitism. William Golding’s 'Lord of the Flies' explores the fragility of civilization through a group of boys lost on an island, raising questions about human nature and societal constructs. These novels not only entertain but invite readers to engage with profound themes that resonate across generations, making them indispensable additions to any library.
