A Getaway from the City, ft. Bainbridge Island

Looking to getaway from the city but don’t plan to rent a car? Ferry is the way to go!

Bainbridge is just a 45 minutes ferry ride away from Seattle Ferry Terminal and it only costs 11.05USD per adult for a round trip! Additional costs apply if you are driving a vehicle into the island. You may check out the updated fares on wsdot.wa.gov. I bought my ticket at the Ferry Terminal right before my ride so there’s no need to book any ticket in advance. Do also check the website above for the timetable. The views were spectacular and I loved the peaceful solitude of relaxing alone on the ferry.

As for transportation on the island, I suggest downloading the Ride Pinggo app to book a BI ride. It is an on-demand bus service for getting almost anywhere on Bainbridge Island and only costs 2USD per ride✨ That’s crazy affordable. It does take a while for the bus to arrive as the bus may make stops along way. Do note that it only runs on weekdays 8.45am-3.30pm and Saturday 9am-6pm.

Here are the 2 spots I have visited:

1️⃣ Pegasus Coffee House

Offers some great coffee and matcha latte👍 I ordered a limited time baked pumpkin spice donut as well since it was approaching Halloween. Fragrant, soft and moist. The matcha latte was sugar-free so it works as a great pair with the sugary donut.

2️⃣ Bloedel Reserve

A tranquil nature reserve to enjoy some autumn colours in October. There were some halloween decorations around the reserve as well. Entrance ticket costs $22 per adult. I’d suggest booking a ticket on their website as there are timeslots to enter. The place was pretty huge so I could easily spend the entire afternoon there, which I did.

I intended to visit the Bainbridge Island Museum of Art too, but since it was getting late and I wanted to catch the sunset at Kerry Park, I decided to take the ferry back to Seattle.
