The hydrangea blooming on the hill overlooking the sea is a superb view unique to Shimoda!

We went to 6 / 11, and there were seven blooms.

The Hydrangea Colony in the Park is so dense that the entire field of vision is filled with hydrangeas. You can experience being surrounded by flowers 360 degrees.

下田あじさい祭は、ただ単にあじさいが咲き誇るだけでなく、その景観と環境の美しさで訪れる人の心を掴みます。私自身も数年前に訪れましたが、広大な下田公園の山城跡を利用した地形は、あじさいのカラフルな群生を360度囲むように配置されており、まるで自然が創り出す巨大な万華鏡の中にいるかのような感覚を味わえました。また、下田の場所柄、青い伊豆の海を見下ろせる高台にあじさいが広がっているので、花と海のコントラストがとてもフォトジェニックで、写真撮影にも絶好のスポットです。この地域特有の温暖な気候が、多様なあじさいの品種を育てやすく、美しい色彩の花々が長期間楽しめるのも魅力だと思います。訪問の際は履き慣れた歩きやすい靴を用意することが重要です。山城跡のため坂道や階段が多く、歩きやすさが快適さと安全に直結します。また、公共交通機関は本数が少ないので、時間に余裕を持って計画を立てることや、徒歩でのアクセス検討もおすすめです。イベント期間中は「あじさい茶屋」などで、あじさいをイメージしたスイーツや地元の特産品を味わえるのも嬉しいポイント。これら限定グルメは、訪問の思い出に華を添え、地域の食文化も楽しめる貴重な体験となります。私の経験から言うと、見頃は6月の中旬頃がベストですが、花の開花状況は気候によって左右されるため、事前に開花情報をチェックすることをおすすめします。晴れた日だけでなく、少し曇った日でもあじさいの色がしっとりと映えており、違った美しさを楽しめます。下田あじさい祭は、自然美と歴史的背景、そして地域グルメが融合し、訪れる価値の高いイベントです。初めての方はもちろん、リピーターにも新たな発見があることでしょう。是非、梅雨の時期の下田でしか味わえない絶景と感動を体験してみてください。
