It’s important not to dismiss the signs in yourself or others—sometimes those who seem happiest are the most in need of support. I try to regularly check in with friends and family, even when they don’t outwardly show distress, because mental health struggles often hide behind smiles. One key lesson I’ve found invaluable is avoiding harmful coping mechanisms like drugs or alcohol. While they may seem to offer temporary relief, in the long run, they often make things worse. Instead, seeking professional help and following a treatment plan can provide the proper support needed to heal. Don’t be afraid to ask for resources or guidance; many communities and online platforms offer confidential support and valuable information. Everyone deserves to feel loved and understood, and no one should have to face their struggles alone. If you or someone you care about feels overwhelmed, reach out—sometimes a simple call or text can make a world of difference. Remember, ending your life is never the answer; there are people ready and willing to help you through your toughest moments. Mental health truly matters, and so do you.
