2024 Home Projects

We bought our home in 2020. It was never meant to be a forever home. It was a newly flipped 40 year old house. And let me tell you, we are having to re-do every single item the “flippers” did. Four years in, everything is falling apart. (But like within six months things started to show signs of shoddy workmanship)

We’re hoping to move on to our next home in sometime next year (first half of 2025) so we need to finish everything up & tackle the last few outliers this year to get her ready for sale.

…well planning to tackle at least. January & February are always tough for us so we never really feel like we really get going until March each year. So now that it’s March, here’s what we have planned for 2024 & early 2025 before listing our home

🛠️My husband’s office (which is one of the bedrooms)-he recently went back to WHF full time again and he really needs a dedicated space to do so.

🛠️My office/closet space (which is his current office situation in the basement “bedroom”)

🛠️Finish the guest bath (Phase II)

🛠️Fence in the yard

🛠️Tear down the existing deck and build a new larger deck, entertaining space and storage shed

🛠️Reconfigure the living room furniture (this one is more about our headspace)

🛠️Master bedroom refresh (both room and furniture)

🛠️Small kitchen updates

🛠️New lighting all over

🛠️Basement bathroom

🛠️Finish the laundry room

🛠️Rip up the carpet everywhere and replace with matching wood

🛠️Possible gut of the Master bathroom (maybe we will see what happens with budgeting)

🛠️Repaint the front door

🛠️Strip and repaint all the trim and doors (because it was painted with the wrong paint and not pre-sanded at all so it’s all bubbling and peeling…this is a BIG endeavor)

... Read moreAs homeowners prepare for their next big move, renovating and upgrading their current properties can significantly boost appeal and value. One major area of focus is creating functional home offices, as remote work continues to be a norm for many. Transforming a spare bedroom into a productive workspace involves essential elements like proper lighting and ergonomic furniture to ensure comfort and efficiency. Another important project is updating the guest bathroom, which can provide an immediate enhancement to the overall experience of your home. Investing in quality fixtures, tile, and paint can refresh the space and appeal to potential buyers. Furthermore, outdoor spaces shouldn’t be overlooked. Building a privacy fence and a larger deck can create an inviting outdoor entertaining area, which is increasingly desirable in today’s market. Small kitchen updates, like new lighting fixtures and cabinet painting, can also have a big impact. Opting for lighter, more contemporary colors can breathe new life into dark or outdated kitchens. For flooring, consider transitioning from carpet to wood, which is easier to maintain and adds a modern touch throughout the home. Ultimately, these renovations are not just about preparing a house for sale; they reflect the personality and style of the homeowner. Taking the time to plan and execute these projects with care can yield significant rewards, not only in the property's value but also in the enjoyment of the space during its final months as a home.
