6 months w/no retwist...finally got my hair done
Where my loc girlies at? #locjourney #locstyle #loccommunity #locinspo #lemon8diarychallenge
Hey loc fam! So, if you've been following my journey (or even if you haven't!), you know the struggle is real when you go a while without a retwist. I finally got my dark and blonde locs done after a whopping 6 months no retwist! Can you believe it? My roots were definitely having a party – a very tangled, somewhat wild party! Going that long without a retwist can be a mixed bag. On one hand, you see so much new growth, and your locs feel thicker and fuller. It’s amazing to watch them mature and gain character. But let's be real, the frizz can get intense, and separating them while washing becomes a full-on arm workout! I know many of you might be in a similar boat, perhaps even at the 3 months no retwist mark, wondering how to manage. It's totally relatable! During these longer stretches between retwists, I've learned a few things that help. Keeping my scalp moisturized with a light oil or rosewater spray was key to preventing excessive dryness and itchiness. I also tried to embrace protective styles like two-strand twists or braids to keep things neat and minimize snagging. Gentle washing is a must; I focused on my scalp and let the water run through the locs, trying not to disturb them too much. It's all about finding that balance between letting them be and giving them the care they need. The relief and joy of getting them freshly retwisted, especially with that crisp criss-cross parting pattern at the roots, is just unmatched. It feels like a total reset! My locs look so defined and neat again, and I feel like a brand new person. It’s a reminder of why I love my locs and the journey I’m on with them. For anyone out there rocking their locs, whether you're at 6 months no retwist or just starting out, remember that every loc journey is unique. Don't be afraid to embrace the 'messy' phases and celebrate the fresh ones. What are your tips for stretching out retwists, or how long do you usually go? Share your experiences below – I’d love to hear from my loc community!
