It took me a while to recognize the difference between being wanted and being honored. Attention might feel good temporarily. It can be exciting to receive texts or compliments, but if it’s not coupled with respect and protection of your feelings, it’s not sustainable love. Real love creates a sense of safety—something I only understood after I stopped chasing those superficial signs of affection.
During my emotional healing process, I began asking myself powerful questions like, "Do they honor me?" rather than "Do they want me?". This shift transformed how I viewed relationships and my self-worth. Genuine connection requires reciprocity, where both people value and protect each other’s hearts.
If you’ve ever mistaken attention for love, know that you’re not alone. Healing involves honest self-reflection and shadow work—acknowledging past patterns without judgment. For me, embracing this mindset helped me release unhealthy attachments and cultivate relationships based on mutual respect and consistent care.
Remember, love isn’t just about being seen or desired. It’s about depth, protection, and honoring each other consistently. Moving from chasing attention to seeking reciprocity is a key step toward true healing and rebirth.
