I crossed Eastern Star

Since joining the Order of the Eastern Star, I've had so many friends ask me what it's really like, especially regarding the sisterhood and the initiation. It's been an incredible journey so far, and I want to share a bit more about what I've discovered. First off, the sisterhood aspect is truly at the heart of OES. When they say it's a "sisterhood focused on community service," they really mean it. It’s not just about attending meetings; it’s about genuine connections, supporting each other through life's ups and downs, and coming together for a common purpose. I've already felt so much warmth and camaraderie. We organize events to raise funds for local charities, participate in community clean-ups, and even support each other's personal endeavors. It's truly inspiring to be part of a group of women dedicated to making a positive impact. Regarding the initiation ceremony, it's a beautiful and meaningful event. I remember trying on my dress for the ceremony – it was a lovely white textured dress with puffy sleeves and a high collar, which is quite typical for special OES occasions. The preparation involves learning about the history and principles of the Order, and it really builds anticipation for what's to come. The ceremony itself is rich in symbolism and tradition, guiding new members through the foundational teachings of OES. It’s a moment of profound personal reflection and commitment, marking your official entry into this wonderful organization. It’s definitely not a "secret society" in the way some people might imagine; it's a private organization with meaningful rituals, much like many fraternal groups, focusing on moral lessons and personal growth rather than hidden agendas or "secret" hand signs for public recognition. The hand signs and symbols you might hear about are integral to the ceremonies and their rich symbolism, not tools for a clandestine group. One of the fascinating aspects I've learned about within OES are the five Star Points, each representing a biblical heroine and embodying specific virtues. Since 'Martha OES star point' is a common query, let me tell you a little about her. Martha represents fortitude and perseverance. Her story, particularly her faith in Jesus during her brother Lazarus's illness and death, teaches us about strength in adversity and unwavering belief. Each Star Point helps to illustrate the moral lessons that are central to the Order's teachings, giving us incredible role models. The fact that OES accepts all religions (I'm Christian, for example) truly speaks to its inclusive nature. While its principles are based on Biblical scriptures, it's about universal moral values that resonate across different faiths, fostering a diverse and welcoming environment for women from all walks of life. It’s truly an international organization, connecting women globally through shared values and a commitment to service. I'm so excited to see where this journey takes me and to continue growing with my sisters in OES!
