Join me, with @The Wilderness Society, to tell oil companies to stay out of the Arctic.

The Arctic National Wildlife Refuge represents one of the most pristine and ecologically important areas in the United States. With over 19 million acres, it serves as a vital habitat for more than 270 species, including polar bears, caribou, musk oxen, and numerous birds. The refuge also supports Indigenous communities such as the Gwich'in and Inupiat, who have depended on the land and its wildlife, especially the Porcupine caribou herd, for thousands of years. From my personal involvement with conservation groups, I’ve seen how critical it is to preserve such natural sanctuaries. The Arctic Refuge isn’t just wilderness—it’s a life source for species and people alike. When proposals for oil drilling arise, they threaten irreversible damage. Habitat destruction and pollution risk harming vulnerable wildlife populations and disrupting the delicate balance that Indigenous communities rely upon. Protecting the refuge means supporting biodiversity, fighting climate change, and respecting native traditions. Industrial development in such an intact ecosystem is a step that cannot be undone, and its impacts would extend far beyond the Arctic. I encourage everyone to join campaigns organized by The Wilderness Society and other advocacy groups. Public pressure can influence policymakers to keep the Arctic safe from oil companies. By raising awareness and taking action, we contribute to the protection of one of America’s last great wildernesses for future generations.
