× Ryan Dynamic Pose Study ×

I am trying to really branch out my dynamic poses. I am also currently trying to learn chest anatomy. I sketched this one up in December and colored it some time in January. I usually have to find time to color in natural daylight so it doesn't strain my eyes.

I adore the way this one came out!

I am trying to dump my art everywhere I can. Just to get more people to see that all it takes is practice, practice, and more practice. Not everything is perfect, but it can still make you proud and happy!

I found my reference on Pinterest, this is my Himbo Ryan.

... Read moreAs someone passionate about expanding my skills in dynamic figure drawing and anatomy, I’ve found that focusing on chest anatomy significantly improves the realism and energy of poses. When I began sketching this piece of Himbo Ryan, I realized that referencing strong anatomical structures gave my poses more life and believability. It’s essential to study both the skeletal framework and the muscle groups, particularly the chest region, because it interacts dynamically when the figure moves or twists. One tip I’d like to share is about lighting your workspace. I try to color my sketches during natural daylight hours, as artificial lighting often strains my eyes and can distort color perception. This method not only reduces fatigue but also helps me choose the right shades and highlights to bring vibrancy to my art. Another important aspect is the value of consistent practice. My approach is to post my art frequently, regardless of perceived flaws, because every piece contributes to my growth. It’s empowering to recognize that imperfection can still lead to pride and happiness in your work, encouraging ongoing improvement. Additionally, Pinterest has been instrumental as a reference source, especially for dynamic and varied poses. Having diverse references helps me step out of my comfort zone and improve my creativity. This experience shows me how crucial it is to blend study, observation, and personal interpretation when developing art. If you’re also exploring dynamic posing and anatomy studies, remember to be patient and persistent. Set aside regular sketching time, focus on the anatomy details that challenge you most, and don’t be afraid to share your progress. Over time, these practices will enhance your ability to create compelling, expressive characters that resonate with viewers.
