EILEEN BOOK REVIEW
While the titular main character in this book is not close to being some sort of role model, she was interesting and unique enough to follow around in this book. Her flaws and eccentricities are part of what makes the novel what it is. While being in Eileen’s inner thoughts can sometimes feel a little slow, it is essential to the story to understand her perspective. It’s takes a little bit to get going but once you’re locked into this East Coast thriller, it’ll be hard to put it down.
I don’t think you’ll necessarily like Eileen as a person, but she’s a fascinating and unique character.
The book was recently adapted to a movie. If you hadn’t read the book before the movie, I’m sure it would be a better experience. Although it was the original author who helped adapt the book into a screenplay, she changed some hey details for the screen play that completely change the entire context and characterization of all main characters. It’s subtle, but it still means so much when you sit back and analyze it. Because I read the book before going into the movie, the differences ruined the original meaning of the book and I was disappointed. The acting was excellent but the changes made to the details of the plot really bothered me.
If you read the book and like it, maybe skip the movie.
