... Read moreOh, mama, I totally get where you're coming from! Dealing with a little one who has reflux and colic is incredibly tough. I remember those sleepless nights and the constant worry about my baby's discomfort. It sounds like you've already tried some of the usual suspects like Similac Sensitive, Enfamil AR, Similac Advance, and even Nutramigen. It’s so frustrating when you’re desperate to find something that helps reduce the spit-up and constant crying. Based on my own experience and what I've learned, sometimes it's all about finding that perfect match for your baby's unique system. If Nutramigen, which is an extensively hydrolyzed formula designed for allergies, isn't cutting it, it might be worth discussing other options with your pediatrician or GI specialist, even if your appointment is delayed. Sometimes a different brand of extensively hydrolyzed formula, like Alimentum, can make a difference, as their specific breakdown of proteins can vary slightly. For reflux, especially with a lot of spit-up, some parents find success with formulas that are naturally a bit thicker or have added rice starch, similar to Enfamil AR. However, if AR didn't work, it could be that the thickening agent itself wasn't enough, or perhaps there's an underlying sensitivity. Some doctors might suggest adding a small amount of rice cereal or a thickener like Gelmix to a regular formula, but always do this under medical guidance. Another area to explore is formulas with reduced lactose or those that are partially hydrolyzed. While Similac Sensitive aims to reduce lactose, some babies still need a more significant reduction or a different protein structure. Sometimes, a formula specifically designed for 'fussiness & gas' might have different prebiotics or partially broken-down proteins that are easier to digest, which can help with colic symptoms. Many moms also swear by formulas that contain probiotics, which can support gut health and potentially alleviate colic. Brands like Gerber Good Start SoothePro or certain European formulas are often mentioned in support groups for their probiotic benefits. It's a real journey of trial and error, and what works for one baby might not for another. Beyond formula, remember to keep your baby upright for at least 20-30 minutes after feeds. Smaller, more frequent feeds can sometimes help reduce the volume in their tummy, lessening reflux. Also, ensuring a good burp during and after feeds is crucial. Hang in there, mama! You’re doing an amazing job advocating for your little one. Keep pushing for answers and remember that you're not alone in this. Hopefully, these suggestions give you a few more avenues to explore to help reduce that constant crying and ease your baby's discomfort.

I used goat milk formula. My son went from a baby who screamed all the time to one who was content and smiled. He did still spit up but it wasn’t projectile or like it hurt him. He’s now a year and a half. ❤️
