Today I went to both sephora and ulta, why? I dont know, impulsive spending. While doing this I decided to compare the two, I loveee ulta better since I can get more items for less money! 🤭 Plus they gave me a free gift (makeup bag, etc on last slide )
Sephora on the other hand is expensive however they seem to have things ulta do not have .
Some of these items are new so please let me know if you have tried them and how you liked em rate em from 1-10 1 being horrible would not recommend to 10 best ever.
... Read moreOkay, so after my recent shopping spree at both Ulta and Sephora, I really dug into the age-old question: which one is actually better for your wallet and your beauty needs? It's a comparison I find myself making constantly, especially when I’m trying to maximize my beauty budget and get the most value for my money.
My receipts tell a clear story! Looking at my hauls, I noticed Ulta often comes out slightly ahead on price for comparable items, especially with their amazing coupons and sales. For example, my Ulta haul came to $131.72, while Sephora was $147.11 for a similar basket of goodies. It really makes you evaluate where you're putting your beauty budget! Ulta's strategy of blending mass-market and prestige brands under one roof often leads to more accessible price points overall.
Let's talk rewards! Ulta's Ultamate Rewards program is, in my opinion, fantastic. You earn points on every purchase that convert into actual dollars off future purchases – plus birthday gifts and bonus multipliers. I love seeing my points add up and using them to knock a significant amount off my next big purchase, like when I got that peach-colored makeup bag and brushes as a free gift! Sephora's Beauty Insider program is good too, offering points for perks, exclusive access, and a birthday gift, but I often find Ulta's points system more straightforward for saving money directly.
When it comes to product selection, this is where the difference between Sephora and Ulta truly shines. Sephora is known for its curated, high-end brands and often has exclusives. I grabbed some amazing skincare items like Fresh and Youth To The People, plus some Dermalogica and Topicals essentials there. They also carry specific lines of Fenty Skin that might be harder to find elsewhere. On the flip side, Ulta is a wonderland for both prestige and drugstore brands. I found a great mix of Ulta brand items, elf cosmetics, Neutrogena wipes, and even waxing supplies like Gigi and Wakse. They also carry Fenty foundation, showing some overlap, but their sheer volume of brands makes it a one-stop shop for everything from body lotion to microfoliant. If you're wondering where to find popular brands like Rare Beauty, both stores usually carry it, so that's a win-win!
For beginner-friendly recommendations, I think Ulta might have a slight edge. Their blend of price points means you can experiment with affordable options like elf cosmetics before committing to a higher-end product. Plus, their salon services can be a great way to get personalized advice. Sephora, while focusing on prestige, also has knowledgeable staff to guide you, but the entry price point can feel higher. As for price matching, it's generally not something either store widely advertises, so always check for sales and coupons before you shop!
Ultimately, choosing between Ulta and Sephora depends on what you're looking for. If you're a budget-conscious shopper like me, always on the lookout for deals and accumulating rewards, Ulta often comes out on top. But if you're chasing specific prestige brands or exclusive skincare items and makeup that Sephora carries, then it's definitely worth the splurge. Both are fantastic, but knowing their strengths helps you get the most out of your beauty shopping experience!
