Having Trouble with TPU or Carbon Fiber Filament?

If you're working with TPU and Carbon Fiber filaments, it's essential to consider the unique characteristics of each material. TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) is known for its flexibility and durability, making it ideal for projects requiring elasticity, such as phone cases and automotive parts. On the other hand, Carbon Fiber filaments are reinforced with carbon fibers to create a stronger, stiffer print with improved thermal stability. When adjusting settings for TPU, it's crucial to use a slower print speed, typically around 15-25 mm/s, to ensure consistent extrusion. Additionally, maintaining a higher bed temperature can promote adhesion and prevent warping. On the contrary, Carbon Fiber requires a hardened nozzle due to its abrasive nature; a 0.4 mm nozzle is typically recommended, and printing at a temperature of 240-260°C can yield optimal results. Lastly, ensure you are using appropriate retraction settings to reduce oozing and stringing when transitioning between filaments. For TPU, try a retraction distance of about 1-2 mm and a speed of 20-30 mm/s. For Carbon Fiber, a longer retraction distance may be necessary, around 3-5 mm, depending on your printer's capability.
