First time trying sushi

You ever see something and have always wanted to try it, like mouth waters for it? That’s me with sushi 🍣 I recently asked my colleagues what would they recommend for a first time sushi taster and they all said the spicy California roll.

8/10 and if I’m craving it I would get it again. Any other recommendations for a “new” sushi eater.

When I embarked on my sushi journey, the spicy California roll turned out to be a perfect starting point due to its familiar ingredients like imitation crab, avocado, and a gentle kick of spice. It's a great introduction for those who are hesitant about raw fish. If you’re new to sushi, I highly recommend starting with rolls that contain cooked or more approachable ingredients. Options like the Philadelphia roll, which includes smoked salmon and cream cheese, or tempura rolls that offer a crunchy texture, can provide comforting flavors while still immersing you in sushi culture. Don’t forget the accompaniments too—soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger not only enhance flavors but help cleanse your palate between different types of sushi. Remember to try small portions first and ask your server or friends for recommendations tailored to your taste. In addition, looking for sushi places that responsibly source their fish is important. Sustainability in sushi ensures that your delicious meal also supports environmental care, much like the information seen on labels such as "100% responsibly sourced sushi," which is worth considering. Overall, every sushi experience adds to your appreciation of this versatile cuisine. Keep an open mind and enjoy the journey—soon enough, you might find yourself craving specific rolls or venturing into more adventurous sushi options!
