指宿へのドライブは、自然の美しさと美味しい食事を同時に楽しめる贅沢なプランです。私自身も最近、指宿の魅力を再発見しました。特に西大山駅周辺は、日本最南端の駅というロマンだけでなく、周囲に広がる向日葵畑がこの季節のハイライト。青空の下、満開の向日葵と堂々たる開聞岳の景観は、写真好きにはたまらない撮影スポットです。ランチは古民家を改装した『梅里』で。ここは篤姫御膳のみの専門店で、土鍋で炊き上げるご飯が特に評判です。自家製味噌のお味噌汁や旬の小鉢が彩りを添え、素材の味を生かした優しい味付けが印象的。予約ができないため、少し早めに行ってオープン待ちするのがコツ。私も40分ほど待ちましたが、炊きたてのご飯を食べるためなら苦になりませんでした。また、唐船峡のそうめん流しは人気が高く、この時期は地元優先で県外の方は譲り合いの姿勢も。また次の機会に訪れたいと思っています。指宿は温泉だけでなく、こうした自然や食事の魅力もたっぷりで、何度訪れても新しい発見があります。これからの季節、ひまわり畑と古民家ランチ、そして開聞岳の景色を満喫する指宿ドライブはぜひおすすめしたいプランです。
