It was unearthed from the wreck of a ship off the coast of Greece, a 2,000-year-old "analog computer" made up of intricate brass gears to accurately calculate the position of the stars and predict the eclipse. This level of gear technology, humans, has just come back 1,500 years later.

2. The Lycurgus Cup:
A 1,600-year-old Roman cup that changes color! When illuminated from the front, it is green, but if shone from the back, it is red. Scientists found that it was formed by mixing "nano" gold and silver powder into glass. This is evidence that ancient people knew "nanotechnology" before we knew the word.

3. Baghdad Battery:
A 2,000-year-old terracotta jar with an iron rod and a copper cylinder. When an acid solution like vinegar is added to it, it can generate mild electricity. Researchers estimate that the ancients may have used it to "gold-plated" on silver jewelry, far ahead of modern human understanding of electricity.

4. Iron Pillar of Delhi:
Over 1,600-year-old steel poles in India that have been sun-dried in the rain for millennia but "not rusted at all." Metallurgists found that the people of that time used iron smelting methods that were so high in phosphorus that they formed a natural protective film layer, which the knowledge of rolling pure iron of this size, the Middle Ages, was not even possible.
