Making Your Own Perfume

🫐 You don’t have to start a whole new hobby (although you might want to) to make your own perfume! If you’re like me and you plan for it to just be a one/two time thing this advice is for you:

🫐 You’re going to want to start with a perfume base. This will have everything needed to keep your scent together. If you would rather go an easier route - isopropyl 99% alcohol and distilled water!

🫐 Find the scent you want. Perfume has top, middle, and base notes. These notes arise in the same order as written.

🫐 If you’re looking to dupe your fav perfume, look up what notes it has!

🫐 Want to craft your very own scent? Follow this guide:

🫐 Top note: lemon, orange, grapefruit, lime, bergamot, spearmint, peppermint and others.

🫐 Middle note: coriander, palmarosa, marjoram, basil, rosemary, rose geranium, pettitgrain, lavender and others.

🫐 Base note: patchouli, vetiver, frankincense, cedarwood, sandalwood and others.

🫐 When you are mixing your perfume start by adding your base notes, then middle then your top notes.

🫐 Use all natural essential oils!

🫐 Find an atomizer you like and store for 24 hours to a month!

To start, understanding fragrance notes is key; top notes provide the first impression, middle notes form the scent's body, and base notes add lasting depth. To replicate a commercial fragrance or create something entirely unique, research the specific notes used in popular perfumes, like floral, citrus, woody, or spicy elements. A great approach is to experiment with high-quality essential oils for their natural aromas. Popular choices for top notes include citrus scents like lemon and bergamot, while middle notes might favor floral or herbal tones, such as lavender and rosemary. Finally, grounding base notes can be derived from warm ingredients like sandalwood and patchouli, bringing complexity to your fragrance. Be sure to take notes during the blending process and give your mix time to mature, allowing the scents to meld beautifully. After a few days to a month, your personalized perfume is ready to enjoy. Thank you! I’ve been wanting to get something like a floral yet spicy and warm perfume. And I unfortunately don’t really favor fruity or sweet notes, but it’s hard to find what I wanted especially since fruity/sweet notes are in most female-oriented perfumes
