... Read moreHey everyone! If you're anything like me, you love a good sweet treat that's also super easy to whip up. And let me tell you, these Caramel Apple Slices are exactly that! I discovered this recipe a couple of years ago, and it quickly became my go-to for everything from a quick after-school snack for the kids to a fun party dessert. Seriously, who can resist the combination of crisp apple, gooey caramel, and rich chocolate? What makes this recipe a winner for me is its simplicity and how customizable it is. All you really need are a few key ingredients: fresh Granny smith apples, a bag of chewy Caramel bits, and some Dark chocolate chips. I always opt for Granny Smith because their tartness perfectly balances the sweetness of the caramel and chocolate, but feel free to experiment with other firm apples like Honeycrisp if you prefer a sweeter base. Making these chocolate and caramel-covered apple slices couldn't be easier. First, wash and slice your apples into wedges. You can core them first or just slice around the core – whatever works best for you! Next, it's time to melt your caramel. I usually put my Caramel bits in a microwave-safe bowl with a tiny splash of Water (just a tablespoon or two helps it get super smooth) and microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until it's perfectly melted and creamy. Be careful not to overheat it! Once your caramel is ready, dip each apple slice about two-thirds of the way in. Let any excess drip off, then place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. After you've dipped all your apple slices in caramel, pop them into the fridge for about 10-15 minutes to let the caramel set a bit. This step is crucial because it prevents the chocolate from melting the caramel when you dip them again. Now for the chocolate! Melt your Dark chocolate chips the same way you did the caramel – microwave in short bursts, stirring until smooth. Then, dip the caramel-coated apple slices into the melted chocolate, covering about half of the caramel. This creates that beautiful two-tone effect you see. Before the chocolate sets, this is your chance to get creative with toppings! I love adding a sprinkle of sea salt, chopped nuts, or even some festive sprinkles. My kids love it when I drizzle a little white chocolate over them too! Let them chill in the fridge for another 15-20 minutes until everything is firm. These Caramel Apple Slices are not only delicious but also look so impressive without much effort. They store well in an airtight container in the fridge for a few days, though I doubt they'll last that long! Give this recipe a try; I promise you won't regret it!
