@Not Your Mother's
As someone who has struggled with maintaining natural wavy hair, I found that styling my waves overnight using a gel cast significantly improves the look and hold of my curls the next day. I use a combination of Not Your Mother's Curl Defining Cream, which contains a helpful rice curl complex for nourishment, and their Freeze Gel with a Level 5 hold to lock in shape without stiffness. My routine starts with applying a leave-in conditioner to damp hair to keep it hydrated. Then, I section off my hair to evenly distribute the curl cream and mousse for volume. Brushing through helps to detangle and perfect the curl definition before I apply the gel. Using a microfiber towel or even a cotton T-shirt, I gently scrunch out excess water and product without disturbing the curl pattern. The key is to create a firm gel cast by scrunching the freeze gel into the hair, which then dries overnight as a protective shell around the waves. Sleeping with the gel cast allows my curls to set naturally without friction, which usually causes frizz. In the morning, I carefully break the cast by scrunching and using my fingers to separate the waves, resulting in soft, defined, and voluminous hair. I also diffuse lightly if I want extra volume and quicker drying. This routine has truly transformed my wavy hair care. By locking in moisture and hold overnight, my waves last longer and look effortlessly defined throughout the day. If you prefer more volume or less hold, adjusting the amount of mousse or gel works well. It’s a simple yet effective technique for anyone with wavy or curly hair looking to wake up to beautiful, natural waves.
