The phrase “Mohon maaf lahir dan batin,” which means asking for forgiveness for any physical and emotional wrongdoings, is commonly exchanged, emphasizing the importance of cleansing and renewal in relationships. Traditional foods vary but often include sweet delights such as ketupat (rice cakes) and rendang (spiced meat stew), symbolizing sharing and generosity. Decorations and attire take on vibrant colors, reflecting the spirit of joy and celebration. Children often receive gifts or “duit raya,” adding to the festivity. Participating in Hari Raya Idul Fitri has always been a deeply fulfilling experience for me and my family. It reminds us to appreciate the blessings we have, to forgive past grievances, and to strengthen bonds with those around us. The heartfelt greetings like “Taqobbalallahu Minna wa Minkum,” meaning “May Allah accept from us and from you,” embody the spiritual communion of the day. Overall, Hari Raya Idul Fitri is not only a celebration of the end of fasting but also a meaningful occasion to revive kindness, gratitude, and community spirit that lasts throughout the year.
