I think this is one of the cooler cakes I’ve ever made. I’m so happy with the way it turned out. #CakeDecorating #Engineering #CakeCakeCake #Waterfall #FunctioningWaterfall
Baking a cake that combines artistry and engineering can be a truly rewarding challenge. When I first embarked on creating this Lion King themed cake, I wanted to push the boundaries of traditional cake decorating by including a functioning waterfall. To achieve this, I crafted a sturdy base out of styrofoam to hold a water pump and reservoir, allowing water to flow like a real waterfall cascading down the cake tiers. This engineering aspect required careful planning to conceal the mechanism while maintaining the cake's aesthetic appeal. After stabilizing the base, I focused on the edible part—baking and assembling the real cake over the styrofoam structure. I chose sunset colors to mimic the African safari theme, hand-painting animals on the tiers for an authentic touch. Hand-cut and drawn fondant figures, especially of Simba, added an extra layer of personalization. One thing I learned throughout this project is the importance of patience and segmentation. Documenting every step can be overwhelming and slow down the process, so I opted to work in focused sessions, perfecting each element before moving on. The hand-painted designs and fondant decorations took significant time but were worth it to create the immersive theme. Seeing this cake in action, with water flowing realistically from one tier to the next, drew a lot of attention and joy from everyone around. It truly transformed a cake into a memorable experience and celebration centerpiece. For anyone considering a similar project, I recommend starting with a solid plan for the water mechanism, and not shying away from mixing materials like styrofoam with cake to achieve special effects. The final result is both visually stunning and a testament to creative cake engineering.

Take my money!!! Omg you did so good!! 😍👏
