It’s my favorite time of year. In Florida, it is hot AND humid buutttt it’s my favorite season. I love sitting outside under the sun , going for a morning run , going to the beach , gardening , etc. I love being outside. As the summer break with the kids is coming to an end I know the ‘BER months are creeping up and seasonal depression will come back. Spending time outdoors during the Florida summer has its unique charms and challenges. One thing I've found especially rewarding is incorporating morning runs into my routine. Running early helps me avoid the peak heat and humidity, and it energizes me for the rest of the day. According to my latest tracking, I cover about 3.14 miles at an average pace of 11'13" per mile, which feels just right to keep me active without overexertion. Beyond running, beach days are a staple of summer enjoyment here. The feeling of the ocean breeze and the sound of waves instantly boost my mood, especially important as the 'BER months approach and seasonal depression can start to settle in. Gardening is another uplifting activity—nurturing plants in the warm sun gives a sense of accomplishment and connection to nature. However, the Florida heat and humidity can be intense. Staying hydrated and protecting skin with sunscreen are musts. I also try to find shaded spots or enjoy evening outdoor moments when the temperature cools slightly. Overall, embracing these summer activities helps me stay present and cherish the fleeting warmth and light of the season. I encourage anyone experiencing similar seasonal shifts to find their own outdoor passions that bring joy and balance during the summer months.
