... Read moreCreating a March zine is a wonderfully personal and creative project that anyone can enjoy, whether you're an experienced artist or a beginner. My process began with gathering various materials from my surroundings, including found papers like candy wrappers, newspaper clippings, and even a Trader Joe's sardines tag—these elements add unique textures and stories to your pages. I enjoy using photography film negatives, such as Kodak T-MAX 135-36, to incorporate vintage and experimental visuals into my spreads. This blend of collage and hand-drawn elements, like those done with Prismacolor pencils, really brings the zine to life. Don’t hesitate to experiment with different mediums and unexpected materials! Reflecting on cultural references and small details also enriches your zine — for instance, I included Lucky Charms marshmallow shapes, noting their new designs, which added a playful touch. These little personalized nods make your zine unique and engaging for your readers.
