my first ever quilt

Far from perfect but I’m so proud of it.

3/30 Edited to

... Read moreStarting my first quilt was truly a rewarding experience, even though it was far from perfect. I learned that quilting is not just about making something flawless but about the joy and pride in creating a personal piece by hand. Each square and stitch represented a step in learning new techniques, from cutting fabric to assembling blocks and adding appliques. It’s amazing how quilting involves patience and creativity, even when mistakes happen. I found that using simple patterns and basic stitches made the process more manageable as a beginner. One challenging but enjoyable part was experimenting with applique designs, which added a unique touch and texture to my quilt. Applique allowed me to personalize the quilt with patterns that meant something special to me. Although my edges were not perfectly straight and the stitches uneven, the warmth and character of the quilt grew with every seam I sewed. This personal journey showed me that quilting is a craft worth persevering with and that every quilt tells a story beyond just the fabric. For anyone starting out, I recommend taking your time and embracing imperfections. The value lies both in the learning process and in the final product. Sharing progress with others in quilting communities or reading about quilting basics can be really helpful. Over time, your skills will improve, but your first quilt will always hold a special place because it’s a tangible memory of your creative beginnings. Creating a quilt is a meaningful way to connect with tradition, craft, and the warmth that handmade items bring to our homes.

1st rag quilt of 2026
technically, my first rag quilt ever! this was for my 6 year old daughter, and now I have been enlisted to make 4 more! I love the craziness of a rag quilt. it was not made with precise cuts and I broke a ton of sewing rules... but I think that's what made this so unique and pretty! #sewin

This rag quilt book sleeve is so so easy to sew! And it’s especially nice if you’ve been wanting to make a rag quilt but don’t want to commit to a big blanket. If you’re a beginner sewer or quilter I would recommend this easy project! . . . #fabric #sew #sewingtiktok #sewing #quilt
