I’ve been having fun with ink lately
Diving into the world of ink sketching has truly opened up a new dimension in my creative journey. Using ink allows for expressive lines and bold contrasts that bring sketches to life in a way pencils sometimes cannot. I've noticed that working with ink challenges me to be more deliberate and confident with each stroke since there’s less room for error compared to other mediums. One of my favorite techniques is combining ink with light washes of watercolor or graphite for shading, which adds depth and texture to my sketches. Playing with different types of ink pens, such as fine liners, brushes, and dip pens, has also helped me explore various styles—from intricate details to loose, flowing strokes. My sketchbook has become not only a place to practice but also a visual diary of ideas, experiments, and moments of inspiration. Whether I’m capturing everyday scenes or abstract forms, the process of sketching with ink feels both meditative and invigorating. For artists considering ink, I recommend starting with simple shapes and gradually building confidence through repeated practice. Overall, embracing ink in my sketchbook has enhanced my artistic expression and allowed me to create pieces with striking contrasts and unique textures. It’s rewarding to see progress over time and to have a collection of sketches that reflect my evolving style and creativity.
