Mixed Berries & Cream Popsicles

... Read moreAfter perfecting my Mixed Berries & Cream Popsicles, I wanted to share some extra tips and ideas to make your homemade treats even better! There's nothing quite like a homemade popsicle, especially when you can control exactly what goes into it. Not only can you use fresh or frozen strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, but you also avoid unnecessary sugars and artificial ingredients often found in store-bought options. Plus, making them yourself is surprisingly fun and rewarding! For my recipe, I loved using Vanilla Carnation Instant Breakfast for that creamy, slightly sweet vanilla note, and Horizon Organic Strawberry Lowfat Milk added a lovely fruity depth and gorgeous purple color. But don't feel limited! You could try other milk alternatives like almond milk or coconut milk for a dairy-free version, or even swap the instant breakfast for a spoonful of Greek yogurt for extra protein and tang. The beauty of homemade is customization! Getting those perfect homemade mixed berry popsicles isn't hard, but a few tricks can help. First, invest in some good quality popsicle molds. Silicone molds are fantastic because they make demolding a breeze – just a quick run under warm water, and they pop right out! For a smoother texture, make sure to blend your berries thoroughly. If you like a few berry chunks, blend less. Remember to leave a little space at the top of your molds as the liquid will expand slightly when freezing. For inserting the sticks, wait about 30-60 minutes after pouring the mixture, when it's partially frozen, so the sticks stand upright. Beyond strawberries, consider adding a banana for extra creaminess or a squeeze of lemon juice to brighten the flavors. You could also swirl in a little bit of honey or maple syrup if you prefer a sweeter popsicle. Experiment with different berry combinations – maybe a mix of just strawberries and raspberries, or add some blackberries for a deeper color. These treats are truly versatile! Once frozen, you can store your popsicles in their molds, or for longer storage, remove them and place them in an airtight freezer bag. They typically last for a few weeks, though ours rarely make it that long! These are a fantastic way to sneak in some fruit for the little ones, making them an ideal healthy snack. They genuinely taste like a treat but are packed with natural goodness. It's a win-win! So, next time you're craving a refreshing and healthy snack, remember how easy and satisfying it is to make your own homemade mixed berry popsicles. Enjoy creating your colorful, creamy treats!
