Serves: 4

Prep Time: 15 min

Total Time: 30 min

Calories: ~250 - 300 per serving (depends on what chicken and ingredients you use)

This lighter take on the PF Chang’s favorite is packed with flavor and skips the sesame oil while still bringing the heat and crunch!

Ingredients:

Sauce:

• 3 Tbsp hoisin sauce

• 2 Tbsp low-sodium soy sauce

• 2 Tbsp rice wine vinegar

• 1 Tbsp Sriracha (optional, for heat)

Stir-Fry Base:

• 1 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil

• 1 medium onion, diced

• 2 cloves garlic, minced

• 1 Tbsp freshly grated ginger

• 1 lb ground chicken

• 1/2 cup canned water chestnuts, drained & sliced

• 2 green onions, I didn’t use this here. I don’t like them 🙂‍↔️

• Kosher salt, to taste

• Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

For Serving:

• Large leafy lettuce (like Bibb or Romaine), leaves separated

• Optional: cooked white rice

Directions:

1. Make the Sauce

Whisk together hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, and Sriracha in a small bowl. Set aside.

2. Cook the Base

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and sauté until soft (about 5 minutes). Stir in garlic and ginger; cook 1 minute more until fragrant. Add ground chicken and cook until opaque, breaking up with a spoon.

3. Add Sauce + Crunch

Pour in the sauce. Cook another 1–2 minutes until reduced slightly and chicken is fully cooked. Stir in water chestnuts and green onions. Season with salt and pepper.

4. Serve

Spoon chicken mixture (about 1/4 cup) into each lettuce leaf. Add rice if using. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Pro Tips:

• For a low-carb version, skip the rice and serve with extra lettuce.

• Swap ground chicken for turkey if preferred.

• Add shredded carrots or mushrooms for extra veg!

... Read moreIf you love P.F. Chang’s Chicken Lettuce Wraps, you’ll adore this healthier homemade version. This recipe not only mimics the original restaurant dish but also focuses on fresh ingredients that enhance taste while skipping heavier oils. Start by preparing a flavorful sauce with hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and a splash of Sriracha to add that perfect kick. The stir-fry base is what brings the crunch – with sautéed onions, garlic, and ginger providing aromatic foundations. Ground chicken is the protein star here, cooked until tender and combined with crunchy water chestnuts for texture. This combination not only makes for a tasty filling but also keeps the calorie count lighter, typically around 250 to 300 calories per serving. For an appealing presentation, scoop the chicken mixture into large leafy lettuce leaves, such as Bibb or Romaine, allowing each diner to create their own little wrap. You can also sprinkle additional toppings like green onions, or even add sautéed mushrooms or shredded carrots for extra flavor and nutrition. This recipe is versatile – swap in ground turkey for an alternative protein source, or go completely low-carb by omitting the rice altogether. Enjoy these wraps as a healthy appetizer or a fun weeknight dinner that’s sure to impress your family and friends!
