My plants 🪴

Most of plants were given to me by friends, my pothos in the swan planter is older than it was my grandmas plant and the rubber ruby I got on my birthday in February (: I want more in 2026, what’s your favorite house plant!? Drop a pic of them below please 🌱⬇️

... Read moreIt's always exciting to discover new plants, but sometimes, figuring out "what plant is this?" can be a fun challenge! As a fellow plant enthusiast, I've gathered quite a collection over time, many gifted by friends or family, like my cherished Pothos that once belonged to my grandma. Understanding what makes each plant unique helps us care for them better and appreciate their beauty even more. Let's dive into some of the green friends in my collection, and hopefully, these details can help you identify some of your own, or just spark some plant inspiration! First up, the Pothos. You might have seen these everywhere, and for good reason—they're super adaptable! My vintage Pothos in the adorable swan planter is a classic example. Pothos typically have heart-shaped leaves and can trail beautifully, making them perfect for hanging baskets or shelves. You'll find varieties like the variegated Pothos with splashes of yellow or white, or solid green ones. If you have a plant with glossy, heart-shaped leaves that grows long vines, often with aerial roots, you might have a Pothos! Then there's my vibrant Rubber Ruby plant, a Ficus elastica 'Ruby', which I got for my birthday. This plant is a showstopper with its striking variegated leaves that boast shades of deep green, creamy white, and even pinkish-red edges. Unlike the trailing Pothos, the Rubber Ruby grows upright, often forming a tree-like shape. If your plant has large, thick, oval-shaped leaves with a prominent central vein and beautiful multi-colored patterns, especially hints of red or pink, it could very well be a Rubber Ruby. They love bright, indirect light to keep their colors vivid. Among my other leafy companions, I also have a beautiful Monstera plant. You'll recognize these by their iconic, often split or perforated leaves, which give them a unique tropical vibe. The heart-shaped leaves mature to develop those characteristic fenestrations (holes or splits), making them incredibly popular for a reason. If you're wondering what plant has large, glossy, fenestrated leaves, it's likely a Monstera! Another interesting one is the Elephant Ear plant, or Syngonium. While some Elephant Ears can be huge outdoor plants, many Syngonium varieties are popular houseplants. They often feature arrow-shaped leaves, and some, like the one in my collection, can have lovely variegation. As they mature, their leaves might change shape, becoming more lobed. If you have a plant with distinct arrow-shaped leaves, possibly with different shades of green or pink, you could have a Syngonium. Quick Tips for Identifying Your Own Plants: Look at Leaf Shape and Size: Are they heart-shaped, arrow-shaped, oval, or deeply lobed? How big are they? Observe Color and Variegation: Is the plant solid green, or does it have patterns of white, yellow, or pink? Check Growth Habit: Does it trail, climb, grow upright like a tree, or form a bushy clump? Stem Structure: Is the stem woody, soft, thick, or thin? Use an App: Many plant identification apps can help you narrow down species just by taking a photo! It's a wonderful journey learning about all the unique plants out there. I'd love to hear about your favorite houseplants or any identification mysteries you've solved!

Btw, that is a syngonium, not an colocasia “elephant ear”. Pretty sure it’s a Syngonium Berry Allusion. Your pothos are both really pretty and are both golden pothos. The one in the swan planter just needs better consistent light to help bring back its vibrant variegation.

Plants mistakes I made 🥀
In the beginning of my journey I was just so eager to collect them all— I forgot why I was collecting them in the first place. To admire their beauty and care for them. I lost sight of this— having so many that i couldn’t keep up with the care. I lost interest, so naturally I lost a lot of plants.
