Toddler Sensory Activity 🎨
I love a MESS FREE, but fun activity for my girl! This one is super easy for me to throw her in her high chair, set in front of her and then get stuff DONE off my to-do list!
All you need is:
- gallon size zip lock bag
- ice cubes
- a couple colors of paint
All you do is:
- put a few ice cubes into a gallon size ziplock
- ad a few drops of 2 paint colors (or more)
- seal ziplock and watch you baby “paint”
The ice helps move the paint around the bag and then when it melts it makes a different sensory activity because now the bag is full of water!
Things I was able to finish while baby girl played:
✔️Unload & reload dishwasher
✔️fold laundry & start a new load
✔️wipe all kitchen counters
✔️clean out fridge
It was a huge success for both if you ask me!

Engaging toddlers in sensory activities is a great strategy for developing their fine motor skills and stimulating their creativity. The ice cube painting technique is not just enjoyable; it also introduces toddlers to essential concepts like color mixing and movement. As they see the colors blend and move around the ziplock bag, they'll experience science and art in action. This activity can be easily adapted to include different materials such as gel or food coloring for varied textures and visual appeal. Additionally, parents can enhance the sensory experience by adding different scents or textures inside the bag. This simple setup promotes independent play, allowing children to explore creatively while parents manage household tasks. Activities that merge play and learning help foster cognitive and physical development in young children, ensuring they remain engaged and curious. From painting with ice cubes to building with blocks, it's essential to incorporate a variety of sensory experiences into their daily routine. These methods not only increase engagement but also promote and encourage problem-solving skills as toddlers experiment with their surroundings. Don’t forget to supervise your little one during these activities to ensure safety while maximizing fun!
