Tsujiki original blend

Overall rating: 10/10:

This matcha blend instantly dethroned Gokago’s shin matcha for latte. Tsujiki had a sweet subtle citrus smell when you first open the packet. As I was whisking it, a strong aroma of umami started filling the air followed by the scent of chestnuts which thoroughly confused me😭 In the end, it was so amazing as a latte! This matcha is full bodied, no bitterness or astringency. Soooo creamy. The special aspect of this matcha is I get hints of subtle cool mint aftertaste with every sip. Not in the overwhelming spicy way but the type where it’s been a while after you’re done chewing gum and that lingering cool feeling is left in your mouth- it’s like that!

... Read moreIf you’re new to making matcha lattes or curious about how to best enjoy Tsujiki original blend, I’d love to share some tips from my experience. Preparing this matcha is straightforward but yields an extraordinary drink. Start with about one teaspoon of Tsujiki blend, sifted to avoid clumps, then whisk vigorously with a bamboo whisk in hot water just below boiling (around 80°C) to bring out the delicate flavors and vibrant green color. What really sets this blend apart is its unique flavor profile. Unlike many matchas that can be bitter or grassy, Tsujiki has a sweetness — a hint of citrus as you open the packet, followed by umami and chestnut aromas during whisking. After sipping, a subtle cool mint aftertaste lingers, similar to the refreshing feeling after chewing gum, but gentle and not overpowering. This makes Tsujiki perfect for matcha lattes. Use your preferred milk—dairy or plant-based—and gently froth it for that creamy texture. As someone who’s tried various matcha powders, I can say Tsujiki’s richness and no-bitterness quality make it ideal even if you’re new to matcha or looking to elevate your latte game. Also, if you enjoy exploring Japanese matcha culture, this blend hails from Kyoto Uji, an area famed for premium matcha. It’s truly a unique and eccentric matcha that offers a new dimension to your daily cup. Whether you drink it straight or in a latte, Tsujiki original blend is definitely worth adding to your favorites list.
