How to deal with Rejection

Ever since high school I have dreamed of having a job in the medical field. I never wanted to be a nurse, but want to help others.

I graduated with my BA degree in Sports and Exercise Science not long ago, and since have been looking for graduate programs. I had my heart set on attending a DPT program, and applied to both my first and second choice schools. My first choice rejected me, and I got an interview with my second choice. I was extremely disappointed that I didn’t get my first choice, but I was hopeful. After the interview, I soon got an email saying I was waitlisted. Unfortunately, I never got an acceptance email.

I recently decided to change from DPT to radiology due to my rejections. I was so excited to apply and got my hopes very high because the program was at the college I had already attended. Yesterday, I received my rejection email.

I am at a complete loss, and don’t know if I should give up? Or keep working towards my goal and apply to the program again next year? I am just so eager to start living this dream life I have. 😞💔

Many have faced similar paths but turned their experiences into stepping stones for future success. To build resilience, consider seeking support from peers or mentors who can offer encouragement and advice. Engaging in activities that enhance your skills, while also maintaining a positive mindset, can significantly improve your chances of success in subsequent applications. Remember, many successful individuals have faced multiple rejections before achieving their goals. The key is persistence and adaptability—adjust your plans, seek feedback, and keep pushing forward. Each rejection brings you closer to finding the right fit for your ambitions.
