Quick Chicken Ka Salan Recipe 👩🏽🍳🍲
Making chicken ka salan is very easy!! See below for my quick recipe:
Ingredients:
-halal chicken breast meat (I get mine’s from Costco)
-ginger
-garlic
-thai chili peppers
-tomatoes
-red onions (can also use yellow onions too if you prefer)
-jalapeños
-avocado oil
-salt
-red chili powder
-turmeric powder
-garlic powder
-cumin powder or seeds
-coriander powder
-freshly ground black pepper
Recipe:
1. In a wok or a karahi, add avocado oil and let it warm on medium to high heat.
2. Then add the thinly chopped ginger, garlic, and Thai chili peppers to the oil and let it get toasty brown.
3. Then add onions to the above mix and keep stirring.
4. When you see that the onions are getting golden brown, then add the chicken breast meat.
5. Simmer down the heat to medium or low to medium heat so you can cook the meat from the inside. (This step is key especially if you’re adding frozen meat to the dish)
6. Then put the lid on and let it cook for 10 minutes.
7. Then remove the lid and bring up the heat to medium high and add the spices as listed above and cook for a few minutes.
8. Then add the tomatoes.
9. Put the lid on for a few minutes and then keep stirring after a while. You will notice that the tomatoes are releasing juices.
10. Then when you notice that the chicken and tomatoes are basically close to being cooked thoroughly, which you would notice by the color of the meat and the mushiness of the tomatoes, add more red onions and jalapeños.
11. Enjoy 😋

Hey everyone! If you've been searching for a truly simple chicken salan recipe that delivers amazing flavor without all the fuss, you've come to the right place. I'm so excited to share my go-to method for this delicious Pakistani and Indian-inspired curry. Many people think traditional curries are complicated, but I promise you, making chicken ka salan with me is going to be incredibly easy and rewarding. This recipe is perfect for busy weeknights or when you want to impress without spending hours in the kitchen. What I love most about this chicken salan is how straightforward the steps are. You don't need a pantry full of exotic ingredients; most of these you probably already have! My biggest tip for making it even simpler is to do a little prep work beforehand. Chop all your onions, ginger, garlic, and chilies before you even turn on the stove. This 'mise en place' makes the cooking process so smooth and quick. Also, don't be afraid to adjust the heat! I love a good kick, which is why I use Thai chili peppers and jalapeños, but you can always reduce them or even deseed them for a milder flavor. When it comes to the chicken, using boneless breast meat, especially from Costco like I do, means faster cooking and less fuss. A common question I get is about cooking the chicken thoroughly. The key, especially if you're using frozen chicken, is that simmering step with the lid on. It helps cook the meat from the inside out, ensuring it's tender. And don't worry if your tomatoes seem a bit chunky at first; they'll break down beautifully, releasing their juices to form that lovely gravy. The mushiness of the tomatoes is your cue! Once your simple chicken salan is ready, the best part is serving it up! I usually pair mine with some fluffy basmati rice, warm naan bread, or even a simple roti. The rich gravy is perfect for soaking up with bread. Sometimes, I'll add a side of fresh cucumber and onion raita to cool things down, or just a squeeze of fresh lime juice over the top for a zesty finish. It truly makes for a complete and satisfying meal that feels special, yet was so simple to put together. Want to switch things up? This simple chicken salan recipe is quite flexible! If you don't have chicken breast, boneless thighs work wonderfully too, just adjust cooking time slightly. For a creamier texture, a splash of heavy cream or yogurt at the very end can be a delightful addition, but it's optional. For those who like a touch of freshness, a sprinkle of fresh cilantro before serving adds a beautiful aroma. And the best part? Leftovers are often even better the next day! Store any extra chicken salan in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days, or freeze it for up to a month. It reheats beautifully, making it fantastic for meal prep.
