Had to hook my niece up.✨✨✨

My niece sent me this inspo pic that she wanted for her back to school nails after this winter snow. She said she wanted a different color nude and asked if she could change the pink to white…she also wanted the bow a little bit bigger and thicker. We also decided to add some pearls to the pointer finger for a little bit more jazz…and yea, there you go!

That 'nude' request can be tricky because finding the perfect nude isn't a one-size-fits-all deal. When my niece asked for her custom look, we spent some time figuring out the best nude shade for her skin tone. A good rule of thumb is to look at your skin's undertones: pinkish nudes for cool undertones, peachy or beige nudes for warm undertones, and neutral nudes if you have a mix. This ensures the nude base doesn't wash out your hands but rather enhances them, giving that effortlessly chic look. We started with shaping her nails into a classic square, which is great for a neat, preppy aesthetic and complements French tips beautifully. For the base, we opted for a high-quality nude gel polish, which is more durable for school life than regular polish, preventing chips during daily activities. The 'white French tips' were key – a crisp, clean line really elevates the whole design. If you're trying this at home, using a thin nail art brush or even nail tip guides can help you get that perfect curve. Now, for the fun part: embellishments! My niece specifically wanted a slightly larger white bow. Bows add such a sweet, feminine touch without being too distracting for a school environment. You can find tiny nail art bows online, or if you're feeling adventurous, you can create them with white gel polish and a fine brush. And those little pearls on the pointer finger? They just added that extra 'jazz' she was looking for! Applying pearls (or tiny rhinestones) is easy with a dot of nail glue or a clear topcoat before curing. Make sure they're pressed firmly into place for longevity. When planning a back-to-school nail look, durability is super important. Gel or acrylic nails tend to last longer, usually 2-3 weeks, reducing the need for constant touch-ups. If you're doing this at home, investing in a good quality base coat, top coat, and a UV/LED lamp for gel polish can make a huge difference. Don't forget nail prep too: clean, buffed, and dehydrated nails are essential for polish adhesion. Beyond bows and pearls, there are so many subtle ways to personalize nude nails for school. Think tiny glitter accents on one nail, a single delicate stripe, or even a small, simple heart design. The key is to keep it elegant and not overly elaborate. And remember, regular cuticle oil application and moisturizing your hands will keep your manicure looking fresh and polished, even after weeks. It's all about making those beautiful custom nails last through all the school adventures!
