Halloween Costume ✨ For Duo/Trio
Doing a group costume is always ton of fun. From typing out the idea in the group chat to seeing it come to life. Although sometimes things don’t always go to plan. So here’s one of my costumes from college that I had to turn from a trio costume to a duo.
Our first costume was the Powerpuff Girls. Very easy costume to put together. We found stretchy dresses on Amazon that came in our respected colors. I bought myself a cheap wig from Target and boom we had our costume.
The second costume we did was just me who was originally Buttercup and my friend that was Blossom. So we had our Pink and Green dresses. We were panicked to find a new costume when Bubbles told us she was no longer going to the party with us. That’s when I came up with the Fairly OddParents idea. We kept our dresses. I popped on a hat to give me a “boy look”. Since I was going to be Cosmos. I literally made our wands out of card board and a wooden dowel rod. I painted them gold while we were doing our make up and dried them with a hair dryer. I’m telling you this because your costume does not need to be complex to have a good time!
Have you ever had to switch your costume up last minute?

So, about those Powerpuff Girls costumes! My friends and I absolutely loved planning ours. For Buttercup, that iconic neon green dress is an absolute must – it's so recognizable! You can often find simple A-line or skater dresses in that shade. Pair it with black tights or leggings, and some black boots or Mary Janes. For Blossom, a bright pink dress, and Bubbles, a sky-blue one. If you're doing a duo, like my friend and I ended up doing as Buttercup from Powerpuff Girls and Blossom, it's super easy to pick your favorite two! Adding a black belt and white go-go boots really completes the look. The key is those primary colors and the distinct hairstyles (or wigs!). Beyond superheroes, there are so many fun duo and trio Halloween costumes for girls that are both iconic and easy to put together. My go-to for a quick but recognizable duo is usually something like Velma and Daphne from Scooby-Doo – a simple orange turtleneck with a red skirt for Velma, and a purple dress with a green scarf for Daphne. Or how about a classic angel and devil combo? For a trio, the three witches from Hocus Pocus are always a hit, or even just three different colored M&Ms if you want something super simple and comfy. Think about your favorite movie or show characters – often, their outfits are surprisingly simple to recreate with items already in your closet or from a thrift store! The best part about group costumes? You can get so incredibly creative, especially when things don't go to plan! Like my experience, sometimes a last-minute switch means thinking outside the box. That's where the magic of DIY comes in. Remember how I mentioned transforming our Powerpuff Girls dresses? We literally took my neon green dress (originally for Buttercup!) and with a simple hat, I became Cosmos from Fairly OddParents! It was genius and so budget-friendly. For Cosmo's look, an opaque green top or dress, a white collared shirt underneath, and of course, that little white crown/hat. And don't forget the star-shaped wand! We made ours from cardboard and a wooden dowel, painted gold – it looked amazing and cost next to nothing. It just goes to show you don't need to spend a fortune; a little imagination goes a long way. What other everyday items can you transform into a magical costume prop? Honestly, planning a duo or trio costume with friends is half the fun of Halloween! The brainstorming, the shopping, the DIY sessions, and then finally seeing it all come together – it creates such amazing memories. Whether you're aiming for cute, spooky, or hilariously clever, hitting the party as a cohesive unit always gets the best reactions. It’s not just about the costume itself, but the shared experience and the laughter. So next time you're thinking about duo trio costumes, don't overthink it; grab your besties and get creative!
