A question for the crochet peeps…

Where do y’all sell your crochet creations? I don’t want to do the Etsy thing and there aren’t craft fairs or markets that I know of near me.

I have piles of things I’ve made that I don’t want to keep but don’t know what to do with them. Im not looking to make a living, just wanting to get rid of a few pieces

Read moreLike many of you, I've found myself drowning in a sea of beautiful, handmade crochet items – blankets, hats, scarves, little amigurumi friends – all crafted with love but without a clear path to a new home. The thought of setting up an Etsy shop felt overwhelming, and traditional craft fairs just aren't happening much in my area. So, I embarked on a mission: to find viable, low-stress alternatives for selling my beloved crochet creations in 2025. And boy, have I learned a lot! One of the first places I explored was Facebook Marketplace and local Buy/Sell/Trade groups. It’s incredibly straightforward to list items, and you can target local buyers directly. I've had success selling smaller crochet items like dishcloths made from durable cotton yarn and even custom orders for baby blankets. The key here is clear photos and quick responses. You're dealing with local pick-ups, which means no shipping hassle! Then there's Instagram Shopping. This platform is a visual dream for crafters. You can showcase your work through gorgeous photos and short videos, telling the story behind each carefully braided rope detail or unique stitch pattern. Using relevant hashtags like #handmadecrochet and #cozycrochet helped me reach a wider audience. I often direct interested buyers to my DMs or a simple link-in-bio page where they can directly purchase. It feels more personal and less like a giant marketplace. I also looked into local consignment shops or boutiques. Many small businesses are keen to support local artisans. I approached a few charming gift shops in my town, proposing to leave a few of my crochet items on display. We agreed on a small commission, and it's been wonderful to see my creations find new owners without me having to manage the sales process directly. It's a fantastic way to get your unique handmade items out there. For those who are a bit more tech-savvy, setting up your own simple Shopify or WooCommerce store can provide ultimate control. While it requires a bit more upfront effort, you bypass marketplace fees and build your own brand. This is especially good if you have a consistent line of products or take custom orders for larger crochet projects. Don't forget the power of word-of-mouth and commissions! Share your passion with friends and family. I’ve found that showcasing my crochet skills often leads to requests for personalized items, from intricate scarves to cozy home decor. These direct sales are often the most rewarding. My biggest tip, regardless of where you choose to sell, is fantastic photography. Good lighting, a clean background, and showing the scale of your handmade items can make all the difference. Think about what makes you click on a product online. It's often that inviting, well-lit image. Also, don't undervalue your time and materials. Pricing handmade crochet creations fairly is crucial. It’s not just about the yarn cost, but the hours of intricate work. Experiment with different avenues, find what resonates with your style, and most importantly, have fun sharing your beautiful creations with the world. It’s amazing how many people appreciate the warmth and uniqueness of a truly handmade item!
