Near Water Sources: While not always obvious, some tortoises might head towards water if they're dehydrated, so check near birdbaths, puddles, or outdoor pet water bowls. Why Does My Tortoise Keep Trying to Escape? Understanding why your tortoise is trying to escape is key to prevention. Preventing Future Getaways: My Top Tips After several escapes, I've implemented a few strategies to keep Patches safely contained: Secure Enclosure: This is paramount. Ensure the walls are high enough that your tortoise can't climb over, and consider adding an inward-facing lip to prevent climbing.
