Safety First: Pack your go bags now
Im in between massive fires and As So Cal burns so crazily let’s get talking about Make your Emergency Go Bags
Some interesting new things because of the Pacific Palasades fire :
Alyways bring your spare car keys.
☑️In a crisis. If you have to abandon your vehicle. Make sure you have both sets of keys. A pair for you and a pair to leave behind so emergency crews and other first responders may move your vehicle for the crews.
☑️Grab some clothes and the best place to probably grab is your laundry basket. There’s a good chance you have a pair of everything in there when in a crisis so you don’t have to think too much.
☑️have all necessary identifications for yourself and those in your home
☑️Other things to make sure is have your cash and your checks at the ready. I know some people have stashes of spending cash and we rarely carry/ use checks but checks are as good as cash and credit cards when it matters
☑️have your necessity medications either back up bottles or make sure all your weekly pill containers are constantly topped off
☑️have plenty of water per individual
☑️bring snacks
☑️bring masks, and personal hygiene items such as deodorant, tp, feminine products
☑️batteries, flashlights and battery operated radio
☑️a physical map
☑️phone charges, tablet chargers
☑️your pets medications at the ready to leave
☑️your pets food, water, toys, their necessary papers
Keeping important papers and meds in a close safe proximity location to one another so it’s easy to grab all of it at once.
Another idea is getting photo copies made of the important stuff. Like your IDs, Socials, medical issue paperwork, property paperwork and have those copies in the bottom of your go bag along with a prepackaged first aid kit.
These are all good things for an emergency from fires, earthquakes and tsunamis. Please never take evacuation orders lightly. Please leave asap if you are being told, if you are fully able bodied please reach out to your elderly neighbors, the overwhelmed mothers, anyone who may be struggling. Only way we make it through emergencies is when we work together
Be safe, let us know what’s needed
When preparing an emergency go bag, it's important to include the basics that can make a significant difference in a crisis. Start by gathering important identification documents and any necessary medications. Having copies of these documents can also be very useful. Make sure to pack essential hygiene items like deodorant, toilet paper, and sanitary products, as well as a sufficient supply of water—aim for at least one gallon per person per day. Don't forget to include durable snacks that can sustain you for days, like energy bars or dried fruits. If you have pets, ensure their medications and food are packed as well. A physical map can provide guidance if your phone loses battery or service, and a flashlight with extra batteries is vital for low-light situations. Additionally, charging cables for devices are crucial to keep communication open during emergencies. Lastly, consider bringing a prepackaged first aid kit or assembling your own with bandages, antiseptics, and necessary medical supplies. Regularly check and update your go bag to reflect any changes in your family's needs and circumstances, ensuring that you're always prepared for unexpected events.
