Life Is Not A Race
I see so many young girls feeling like they are “behind” in life because they aren’t married, or don’t have a boyfriend/girlfriend/partner, or don’t have kids, or don’t have their career figured out, or whatever else. But I’m here to tell you that life is not a race. There is no right or wrong time or order to do things like that. Do what makes you happy, what feels right for you, and what you are ready for.
Honestly, you don’t even have to do or have everything that others do. Society puts so much pressure on young girls and women to be these perfect dolls, and it’s harmful and sad.
In today’s fast-paced world, many young women experience anxiety due to societal pressures and expectations surrounding relationships and career accomplishments. The emphasis on being 'on track' can create unrealistic standards that often lead to feelings of inadequacy. It's crucial to recognize that everyone's path is unique, and comparison only distracts us from our individual journeys. Studies show that embracing one's timeline can lead to increased happiness and well-being, allowing individuals to focus on personal growth and self-discovery. Rather than conforming to external pressures, women are encouraged to pursue their passions and interests, carving out fulfilling lives that reflect their true selves. Social media can amplify these pressures, often showcasing curated lifestyles that appear perfect. However, behind every highlight, there are stories of struggles, failures, and journeys that are not often shared. Acknowledging this can foster a more compassionate understanding of ourselves and others. By redefining success on personal terms, women can cultivate a life filled with authentic fulfillment. Surrounding oneself with supportive communities, whether through online platforms like #GirlTalk or lifestyle challenges, can also provide encouragement. Embracing the belief that life is not a race allows individuals to appreciate the journey, finding joy in growth, experiences, and the time taken to find what truly aligns with them.
