นอกจากวิธีปลูกสมุนไพรในกระถางตามที่แนะนำไปแล้ว ผมยังขอแชร์เคล็ดลับเล็กๆ ที่ทำให้การปลูกในกระถางมีประสิทธิภาพมากขึ้น คือการเลือกกระถางที่มีขนาดเหมาะสมกับสมุนไพรแต่ละชนิด และมีรูระบายน้ำดี เพื่อป้องกันน้ำขังที่ทำให้รากเน่า นอกจากนี้ การคลุมหน้าดินด้วยกากมะพร้าวก็ช่วยรักษาความชื้นได้ดีจริงๆ ผมใช้วิธีนี้ปลูกโรสแมรี่กับสะระแหน่ ปรากฏว่าโตไวและแข็งแรงมาก สำหรับการรดน้ำ แนะนำให้รดเช้าๆ หรือช่วงเย็นที่แดดอ่อนเพื่อไม่ให้ต้นไม้โดนแดดโดยตรงขณะเปียก ทำให้ลดปัญหาโรคจากความชื้น การจัดวางกระถางในพื้นที่ที่มีแสงแดดเพียงพอแต่ไม่โดดแดดเต็มที่ก็ดีเหมือนกัน เพราะสมุนไพรหลายชนิดชอบแสงแต่ไม่ชอบร้อนจัด ถ้าเกิดปัญหาต้นไม้เฉาตาย ให้ลองตรวจสอบดูว่าดินชุ่มน้ำเกินไปหรือไม่ หรือได้รับแสงน้อยเกินไป ปรับเปลี่ยนตามความเหมาะสมก็ช่วยให้ต้นไม้ฟื้นได้เร็วขึ้น การปลูกสมุนไพรในกระถางเหมาะมากสำหรับคนมีพื้นที่จำกัด และยังช่วยให้เรามีวัตถุดิบสดใหม่ใช้ในครัวทุกวัน แถมยังเพิ่มบรรยากาศสดชื่นให้อากาศในบ้านอีกด้วยครับ
