... Read morePerimenopause typically occurs in women during their 40s and 50s, but for some, symptoms can begin as early as their mid-30s. Early perimenopause is marked by fluctuating hormone levels, particularly estrogen and progesterone, leading to symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, irregular periods, and unexpected weight changes. Recognizing these signs early is crucial for managing the transition effectively and maintaining quality of life. Hormone testing during an OB/GYN visit can help pinpoint whether these changes are due to perimenopause or other health conditions. It's essential not to dismiss symptoms as mere stress or aging but to seek professional evaluation. Early diagnosis enables personalized treatment options such as lifestyle adjustments, hormone therapy, and nutritional support to alleviate symptoms. Women experiencing early perimenopause should also pay attention to bone health, heart health, and mental well-being, as declining estrogen levels can impact these areas. Engaging in regular exercise, eating a balanced diet, and managing stress contribute to healthier outcomes. Connecting with supportive communities using hashtags like #PerimenopauseStruggles and #HormoneCheck can provide emotional support and valuable information. Remember, early perimenopause is real, and proactive steps empower women to navigate this phase with confidence and care.

It’s God awful and that’s why no one talks about it.

The struggle is real…I started at around 40 and did not know what was going on at all. The hot flashes didn’t come to several years later but it was a slow change that I didn’t put together until everything was just piling up. At least you know and can make decisions now instead of when it’s too late.
