Well that needed to be done

We took on the dreaded toy room today 😅 This space has been grossing me out for far too long, so instead of having the kids clean it up, I decided to take it on myself.

Every piece of trash that was on the floor is finally where it belongs, and every broken or chewed-up toy (thanks to our “shark duck” 🦈🐶) is now gone for good.

Am I the only parent who feels like the toy room needs a full deep clean at least once a month?! Between the kids and our pup who’s still very much in his chewing phase I swear I find random sticks and half-eaten toys in there every single time. 😂

It’s common for toy rooms to accumulate clutter quickly, with trash, broken toys, and random items scattered everywhere. A deep clean once a month is a great routine that many parents find essential to maintain a healthier and more organized play area. One effective strategy is to involve your children in the tidying process—but it’s also understandable when parents decide to take charge themselves to get the job done thoroughly and efficiently. Sorting toys into categories like 'keep,' 'donate,' and 'discard' can help manage the piles and make decisions easier. It’s also helpful to invest in storage solutions like bins, shelves, and clear containers that make cleanup faster and visually appealing. Pets who are still teething or chewing can add an additional challenge by damaging toys and scattering debris. Consider having a designated spot for pet toys to keep them separate from the kids’ things and inspect regularly for chew-damaged items that should be thrown away to avoid choking hazards. Using natural cleaners or gentle disinfectants keeps the space safe for kids to play and helps reduce allergens. Establishing a consistent cleaning schedule, even a quick daily 5-minute tidy-up, can prevent messes from becoming overwhelming. Remember, a clean toy room not only improves the overall atmosphere of your home but also encourages children to take responsibility for their belongings and enjoy a safer, more organized space for play.
