Dinner rolls
It’s been a while honeys! BUT IM BACK! Let’s make the best dang dinner rolls you have ever had!
You’re going to need 2 cups of pineapple juice! And before yall come for me it just makes them sweet not taste like Hawaiian rolls, I promise. A little less than half a cup of honey, 1/2 cup of heavy cream, 1/2 cup of milk, 1 egg, 6-7 cups of flour and four tablespoons of yeast.
Mix pineapple juice and milk, then heat on the stove until warm to the touch but not hot. You’ll kill your yeast if it’s too hot. Add honey to your stand mixer then add your pineapple mixture, and milk heavy cream and milk once it’s heated. Pitch your yeast. Let it sit for around 5 minutes. Add a dash of salt. Then add 5-6 cups slowly incorporating until it sticks to the dough hook and begins to clean the bowl. It should not stick to the bowl at all. Mix for 7-10 minutes until soft and you can stick your finger to it and it bounces back. Preheat oven to 350. Begin shaping into a ball a little bigger than half a baseball. Let them rise for an hour. CAREFULLY transfer them to a pan if you don’t let them rise in your pan which you can do. Bake at 350 until lightly golden. Butter wash the top, then back in the oven for 5 minutes. Once they are done cool and enjoy!
Dinner rolls are a staple in many cuisines, beloved for their soft texture and versatility. Incorporating unique ingredients like pineapple juice not only adds sweetness but also a delightful flavor profile that enhances the eating experience. To achieve the perfect dinner rolls, it's essential to understand the yeast activation process. Yeast thrives in warm environments; thus, heating pineapple juice and milk to just the right temperature allows it to activate effectively without being killed by excessive heat. Additionally, the incorporation of honey adds a natural sweetness that perfectly balances the flavors. When mixing your dough, look for a smooth and elastic texture which signifies that your rolls will have the desired lightness after baking. The rising time is crucial; allowing the dough to rise properly ensures fluffy rolls that are light in texture. For those who like to experiment, consider adding toppings before baking. A sprinkle of sea salt, garlic butter, or even herbs can elevate your dinner rolls, making them a standout side dish at any gathering. Don't forget that dinner rolls can be made in advance and stored in the freezer! Just warm them up before serving, and you'll always have a delicious side on hand. Enjoy your baking adventures!
