Med student spouses & all they do 🤍
Everyone knows that medics school is extremely challenging. People often ask how I am doing & offer me their support without so much as a second thought for what my husband is going through as well!
And while this is completely understandable - as I am the one dedicating my life to the program currently- it does not mean that he should be forgotten!
Everything from financials, to taxes, to insurance, to hours spent alone while I study, falls onto him. Medical student spouses are incredibly selfless people and they deserve recognition!!!
I included some of my favorite lines my husband & I say to eachother on the regular, above. If you are lucky enough to have someone in your coed we every minute of every day rooting you on, as I do, be grateful and take a minute to thank them for all that they do!

Medical school is not just a journey for the students; it profoundly affects their loved ones as well. Spouses of medical students often shoulder significant responsibilities, from managing household financials to offering emotional encouragement during challenging times. Acknowledging their contributions is essential, as they frequently sacrifice their own needs to support their partners through rigorous academic schedules. They often lose quality time together, facing the emotional toll that comes with the demanding world of medical education. In conversations that reinforce their bond, phrases like "We're in this together" or "I’m proud of you" echo the unwavering support they provide. Celebrating and appreciating the role of a medical student's spouse is vital, as these individuals become steadfast anchors amid the chaos of studies, exams, and clinical rotations. Moreover, fostering relationships with other spouses can create a supportive community where they share experiences, struggles, and advice. This sense of camaraderie reaffirms the importance of mutual appreciation and empathy within relationships. If you have such a partner by your side, remember to express your gratitude often; the journey is less daunting when they know their sacrifices are recognized and valued.
