Matching necklace and earrings set
I finally made a beaded necklace and am really excited to keep experimenting with different designs! I used a mix of seed beads to make a sort of earthy, southwestern inspired palette 🏜️ And I think the matching dangly earrings turned out so cute too 🌼
What do you think?
Finishing a new piece of handmade jewelry always brings such a rush of excitement, and this lariat-style necklace with its central flower pendant and coordinating dangly earrings is no exception! I chose an earthy, southwestern-inspired palette for the seed beads, hoping to create something really special and nature-inspired. Now that it’s done, I'm left with the burning question many crafters face: how much is it worth? It's not just about the tangible materials; there's so much more that goes into a unique, handmade creation. When I think about the value of this handmade seed bead jewelry set, the first thing that comes to mind is the cost of my supplies. Quality seed beads, especially in a specific bohemian color blend like this palette, aren't always cheap. Then there are the findings – the clasps, jump rings, and the wire that gives the necklace its distinct lariat style and allows the long beaded strands to drape beautifully. Each component adds to the base cost, and it’s important to factor these in accurately before even considering my time and effort. Speaking of time and effort, that’s where the true artistry comes in. Hours melted away as I meticulously strung each tiny bead for both the necklace and the matching dangly earrings. There's a certain skill involved in achieving a cohesive design, ensuring the flower pendant sits just right, and making sure the entire piece is durable and comfortable to wear. It’s not just assembly; it’s a creative process from conception to completion. This personal investment of time and skill should absolutely be reflected in the final valuation of any handmade piece. Then there’s the unique design itself. This isn't a mass-produced item; it's a one-of-a-kind handmade seed bead jewelry set. The combination of the lariat-style necklace with a distinctive flower pendant and the specific earthy, southwestern-inspired palette makes it stand out. Many people value handmade items precisely because they are unique and tell a story. I’ve even seen how well-presented pieces, like those displayed against a clean background or worn by someone, can enhance their perceived value, making them more appealing to potential buyers. So, how do we put a price on something so personal and handcrafted? A common approach is to calculate material costs, add an hourly rate for your labor, and then apply a markup for design, uniqueness, and overhead. For example, if my materials cost $20 and I spent 5 hours at $15/hour, that's $75 for labor, totaling $95. A markup of 2x or 2.5x could bring it to $190 or $237.50. This gives a good starting point, but it's also helpful to look at what similar artisan jewelry sells for in the market. Ultimately, the question of "how much is it worth" involves a blend of cost, labor, artistry, and market demand for unique, high-quality pieces like my handmade seed bead jewelry set. I'd love to hear how you price your own creations!

This is every pretty.I make jewelry cause I love crafts and doing the diys. But I have never tried something like this. Its looks really good you did a awesome job on this set.But that doesn't shock me cause all the things you make on your page look really good. You make this type of designs by using one of those needles and like the clear thread to form the beads into the designs?
