Justin and his second ever #Karate #Tournament I am so very #proud of Justin for sticking with karate and never giving up on himself. Karate has truly helped him manage his #ADHD and impulse control over the last 6.5 years.
Justin studies the art of Gōjō-Ryū karate. He competed in Kumate, (sparring) Kata, and Kobudo, (weapons). His weapon of choice for this tournament was the Shinai, (wooden sward). Justin is part of the IEAAU international team of competitors.
Karate is more than just a martial art; it instills discipline, focus, and resilience, especially for children like Justin who face challenges such as ADHD. During his recent second tournament, Justin demonstrated exceptional skill, placing 4th in Kobudo, 4th in Kata, and 5th in Kumate, showcasing his dedication to Gōjō-Ryū karate. Incorporating physical training and mental discipline, karate promotes self-control and helps in managing impulsivity, making it a beneficial activity for children with attention difficulties. The experience of participating in tournaments builds confidence and provides valuable social interactions. By training in a supportive environment, young athletes not only enhance their technical skills but also develop a strong sense of community and belonging. Overall, Justin's journey reflects the positive impact martial arts can have on children and their paths to self-improvement.
