When traveling in Bangkok, always try to verify agency credentials beforehand and prefer official tourist counters or trusted services. If anything feels off, trust your instincts—do not hesitate to get out of the situation safely. I found it helpful to interact with locals and avoid relying solely on authorities or strangers, as sometimes official channels may not always be reliable. Additionally, carry enough cash since many places in Bangkok may not accept credit cards or popular digital payment options like Visa, MasterCard, or QR payment systems. Also, avoid buying street food or drinks from vendors you don’t trust, particularly when you are feeling vulnerable. If you encounter threatening behavior or suspect a scam, do not engage further; leave the area immediately and seek help from a busy or public place. Using apps to navigate public transport, such as buses or trains, can be a safer alternative than taxis or unofficial drivers. Staying hydrated and keeping a low profile, such as changing clothes or covering your face if you feel uncomfortable, can also provide peace of mind during travel. Being aware of these common scams and preparing ahead can make a big difference.
