Tear of Injustice
I’m dedicating this artwork to my people in Puerto Rico who have been suffering and dealing with no water in their homes, their businesses, the hospitals, the schools, everywhere for a few weeks now. And my people of Puerto Rico who have also been suffering and dealing with LUMA Energy for years now. It breaks my heart to see such pain and torture that the government is putting them through. #fyp #fueraluma
Living through Puerto Rico’s current water crisis is a deeply personal and painful experience shared by many in the community. For weeks, entire neighborhoods have faced disruptions in access to clean water, impacting everyday life, businesses, and essential services like hospitals and schools. This scarcity is not just a fleeting inconvenience but a prolonged hardship that adds to the emotional and physical stress experienced by residents. The involvement of LUMA Energy, an entity responsible for managing the island’s electricity transmission and distribution, adds another layer of complexity and frustration. Years of complaints have centered around power outages and insufficient infrastructure investments, which have fueled public distrust and dissatisfaction. The convergence of water and energy crises has heightened the urgency for sustainable solutions and government accountability. From firsthand accounts, the lack of water severely disrupts hygiene practices and limits basic needs, forcing families to seek alternative sources that are often costly or unsafe. Many schools have had to adjust schedules or close temporarily, impeding children's education and adding to the broader societal impact. This artwork captures the raw emotion, representing not just a physical struggle but a cry for justice and reform. It resonates with many who demand systemic change and better governance to guarantee the fundamental right to water and energy services. For those looking to support or understand more, staying informed and amplifying Puerto Rico’s plight is vital. The hashtags #fueraluma and #fyp reflect calls for action and solidarity with the affected communities. Together, honoring this struggle through art underscores the power of creative expression as a catalyst for awareness and change.
