Doing the work of two parents with the capacity of one has stretched me thin lately. Between renewing a license and losing it, waiting on a passport, and being 5 weeks out from my first HYROX competition in Cancun, impatience has been knocking loud.
This morning reminded me to sit in the present and surrender, to my feelings, my reality, and the truth that life is meant to be lived, not rushed. God is always with us, even in the overwhelm.
Don’t let your mood change your goals. ❤️🩹🙏✨ #fyp #morningroutine #momsover30 #hyrox #wfh
Life as a busy parent and an aspiring athlete often feels like a delicate balancing act, especially when juggling multiple responsibilities alone. From my own experience, handling routine tasks like renewing licenses and managing travel documents can sometimes feel overwhelming, particularly when compounded by the anticipation of a major fitness event like a HYROX competition. What has helped me stay grounded is embracing the concept of presence — focusing on the current moment without rushing towards the future or dwelling on frustrations. This mindset shift not only calms impatience but also enables me to appreciate the small victories, such as a peaceful 'slow Monday morning' with my child, which the image from the day perfectly captures. Another essential lesson is surrendering to the reality of the situation. Accepting that some things are beyond immediate control—from lost paperwork to race preparations—allows me to harness energy more effectively, reducing stress while staying focused on meaningful goals. In the lead-up to HYROX, a demanding fitness competition combining running and functional workouts, I’ve learned that consistency beats intensity alone. Incorporating manageable morning routines and self-care rituals supports my training without compromising family commitments or work-from-home demands. Most importantly, I remind myself never to let the mood-of-the-moment dictate long-term objectives. Challenges and emotional fluctuations are natural, but perseverance and faith (whether spiritual or personal belief) remain anchors for progress. I encourage others facing similar pressures to find their own balance between determination and compassion toward themselves. By sharing these reflections, I hope to inspire fellow parents and athletes to embrace patience, presence, and purpose—even when life feels stretched thin. The journey is as meaningful as the destination, and every moment lived fully enriches the path forward.
